The newly appointed honorable Chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr. M Khairul Hossain visited various activities of Rural Reconstruction Foundation on 15-16 October, 2023. At this time, he was accompanied by Dr. Namita Halder NDC (Managing Director, PKSF) and Muhammad Hasan Khaled (Deputy Managing Director, PKSF).

Reception

At 6.15 in the evening, the newly appointed chairman of PKSF Dr. M Khairul Hossain appeared at the head office of RRF. He was accompanied by the managing director of PKSF Dr. Nomita Halder ndc and Deputy Managing Director Muhammad Hasan Khaled. The Executive and Deputy Executive Director of RRF Mr. Philip Biswas & Pinku Rita Biswas welcomed the guests with floral greetings. Directors, Deputy Directors & different level staffs from RRF were present during the reception.

Discussion & Sharing Meeting

At 6.30 pm, a discussion and sharing meeting was held in the 4th floor, round table conference room of RRF with the distinguished guest of PKSF along with the RRF officials. First the meeting started with an introduction session and later Arun Sardar (Senior Assistant Director, RRF) presented various developmental activities of RRF through his beautiful and eloquent Power point presentation. Chairman PKSF lauded the remarkable activities in RRF. He said this organization is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-communal voluntary development organization that plays an unparalleled role in improving the quality of life of the rural people.  The discussion and sharing meeting was ended by thanking RRF for their marvelous work.

Cultural evening

After the discussion meeting at the head office, the guest left for the RRF Training and Resource Center (TARC). Anjelo Das (Director TARC, RRF) welcomed the guests with floral greetings. A delightful cultural evening was organized at RRF TARC. The cultural program featured with local music and dance which were performed by Barnamala Bidyapith students & RRF Staff. The first day’s activities ended up with a fellowship dinner.

Tissue Culture Lab Visit

On 16th October, 2023 In the early morning PKSF Chairman visited the RRF Tissue culture lab. He got the concept that how tissue culture works. Then he left for Gadkhali in Jhikargacha

Godkhali Flower Market Visit

The guest visited Gadkhali market, which is known as the flower capital of Bangladesh. There, all the members of the flower market, executive committee and the flower traders had an exchange of views. Florists share their pros and cons with the guests.

Ecological Farming Shed Visit

Under Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP) Women Entrepreneur Mst. Sajeda Begum’s ecological farming shed was visited by the guests. Sajeda said that she was able to do this shed on 33 percent of her land with the help of RRF. From this shed she got a net income of 1000-1500 taka per day. Based on his words, Chairman of PKSF said, “if you need any kind of help, let us know through RRF, we are ready to give you all kinds of help.” After visiting the shed, an exchange meeting was held with the guest and the flower growers of the area.

Discussion & sharing Meeting with Flower Growers

A discussion meeting with local farmers was organized. Farmers had the opportunity to share their experiences, challenges, and aspirations with the distinguished visitors. The flower growers said that since Jessore is the higher district, we will take appropriate steps to increase flower cultivation in this district if you give us proper direction. In the closing speech of the exchange meeting, the chairman of PKSF Dr. M. Khairul Hossain said that those of you who grow flowers, make the people of the country like flowers, while you yourself are becoming submissive. Dr. Namita Halder, (Managing Director, PKSF) said that the aim of PKSF is to alleviate the poverty of the people of the country through employment. So those of you who have become successful flower growers will definitely encourage other growers and create employment for people in the area. After the exchange meeting, the guest visited a microfinance group of RRF.

Microfinance Group Visit

After the exchange meeting, the guest visited “Notun Asha Mahila Samity” located at Bhagadanga village of Zhikogacha-1 branch. They interacted with beneficiaries of microfinance initiatives. This encounter highlighted the impact of microfinance programs on the livelihoods and economic well-being of local residents. First the founder and executive director of RRF Mr. Philip Biswas introduced the guests to the group. Each member of the group revealed to the guests what project/work they have done with their loan. Notable projects with loans from RRF included construction of toilets, construction of houses, expansion of floriculture, agricultural work, expansion of flower business etc. Apart from the notable activities of RRF, providing flower seedlings at low cost, lending at limited interest, digital for transaction transparency. Side book apps, call center etc. At that time, MD madam said to all those who bring remittance from abroad, you should ask them to send the money through the bank. Since RRF provides remittance services, they can take this service from RRF. Chairman of PKSF announced the end by wishing good health and thanking all the attendees of the group.

Finally, Chairman, Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director of PKSF expressed gratitude to everyone including the Founder Executive Director of RRF and departed on the way of Shishu Niloy Foundation.
